AWANA Day - Chironga

One of the greatest experiences of life as a Christian is meeting Christians from around the world and working side by side and shoulder to shoulder with them. There is something wonderful when different nationalities pull together. The New Testament is filled with examples of people from different cultures, nationalities, and classes joining together in common faith and purpose. The Bible sets aside prejuidice and promotes love.

We experienced this kind of love last Wednesday in the rural village of Chironga. The Chironga Evangelical Church just started an AWANA kids club on the Chironga School grounds. East Troy children from AWANA in Wisconsin raised over $512.00 to buy two outdoor game kits for two rural AWANA clubs in Zimbabwe. The kits include all the equipment necessary to run games, AWANA verse books, a soccer ball and lots of candy.

Hundreds of school children came out to Chironga's first day of club. Children from the church were utilized to show off the games and equipment. There was cheering, laughter, singing, games, verse memory, and a bible lesson.

It was a great blessing to see these two churches from seperate parts of the globe join together with common purpose and excitement. East Troy children sent pictures and letters to the kids at Chironga. It will be fun to see how the Lord brings these two clubs together in the future through e-mail and letters. It is our hope that the game equipment will bring a level of excitement to this new AWANA club in order to reach many new children for Jesus Christ.

Thank you East Troy. Thank you Chironga. Thank you Jesus for this great experience of Your love for the children of the world.
